We went on our first field trip to Belle Isle! The girls met an amazing female park ranger that showed them the many daring and exciting parts of her job. They also explored the aquarium and the conservatory during the trip. The best part was the bus drive where the girls were able to bond over the book discussion. Our April 2018 Progressionista is Jacinda Binghoff, a Belle Isle park ranger for the Michigan Department of Natural Resources. We loved her story of how she worked her way up to become a park ranger all while being her true self! It was awesome to see cool pictures of her cutting down huge trees and cutting pipes right before our eyes with fire! What an experience before reading our next book, A Return to the Isle of the Lost by Melissa de la Cruz. A special thank you to Belle Isle Conservancy for setting up this field trip for us!
